What Is the Difference Between Concrete and Cement?
Cement is created by using a mixture of iron, limestone, calcium, silicon and aluminium, among other things. This is then heated in kilns to approximately 1,482°C, to create a material referred to as clinkers, which is similar to marbles. These will be then ground into a powder, and then gypsum is added in, creating a grey like flour substance we all know as cement. When water is added, it sets off a chemical process which will allow it to set.
Concrete however, is a masonry products which uses cement to bind crushed rock, stone, and sand, also known as aggregate. Cement takes up anywhere from 10% to 15% of the mass of concrete; the proportions will vary depending on the kind of concrete getting made.
